Your adrenaline spikes, you complete the rep, you ring the bell, get some high fives. In Crossfit gyms around the world this is the sign of a good day. Short term awesome. This achievement requires things like:
The long term requires things like:
The different energies and perspective combine, integrate and compliment.
Physical, Mental and Spiritual – the important things in our lives all have two integral sides.
To reach your potential you have to learn both.
It comes without reason. At first, I don’t recognize it. I mistake it for being tired or maybe just a bit worn down from the day to day stuff.
Afterwords, I realize it was The Low. Not depression, I don’t think, it never lasts very long.
During The Low I am unable to follow my routine. I lose things, forget stuff. I am unmotivated. I drink more and have less discipline. I don’t sleep well but I want to sleep all the time.
The Low is a mental and spiritual suck. Inspiration is gone. I wonder if I am sick. I am not.
What is this? What causes it? What can I do to prevent it?
I think it’s just life – do you experience The Low?
Getting through is like getting through a storm. Hunker down and know that it will pass.
I always know when it leaves. its like a clearing, I am back and feel ready, my routine, my work, my curiosity, my Spirit is back.
Our Self is a troublemaker. It is our self that we must learn to control and ultimately detach to connect with life.
Self discipline, Self Denial, Die unto ourselves – who is this self and where did it come from and why does it seem to lead us astray?
It easy to get lost in yourself. Through consumerism, busyness of daily life, achieving financial security, getting the most likes or followers on social media, selfies we are Self Zombies.
Yoga and meditation have helped people detach and tend to the eternal now that exists within. The energy and awareness that exists when you sit and let the daily concerns, relationships and even your own identity detach from you. By observing them, in a detached way, you begin to feel the eternal, the source, The Way.
The Christian Self must die in order to live.
Jn 12:24 (NIV) “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”
There are many similar passages. It sounds troubling but it really comes down to conscious detachment from the ego and your self desires to become bigger than your self.
