Learning

Our best teachers  start a fire inside us. The fire will last a life time if you tend to it.

“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” – Henry Ford

Learning, unlike a degree,  is life long and makes life long.  The more you learn the more each minute is lived.  Each scene, each emotion, each relationship is enhanced through your leaning.

Learning keeps you young.  Tending to that fire of curiosity keeps our mind and spirit active.

Learning is the path to the gift of the Holy Spirit – Wisdom.  Wisdom is within-accessible to all of us; is a gift to us.  This spirit becomes more accessible if we humble ourselves and seek to learn.

The curiosity to learn a new skill, sport, discipline, hobby – keeps you alert, on on the right path and away from the stress and damage of pride and arrogance.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. – Matthew 11:29

This age and the next

Jesus refers to “this age or this generation” many times. We are in a moment in time – an age- that will ultimately pass and give way to a new age or generation.

The children of this age marry and remarry but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age and to the resurrection of the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.

They can no longer die, for they are like angels; and they are the children of God because they are the ones who will rise. Luke 20: 34-36

God is timeless. God is the source and creator. Jesus words speak to our physical form which dies and gives birth in a cycle, like the trees of the forest.

The life after this age isn’t really, after, it is now. It must be now, there is no next age since there is no beginning or end. It all exists NOW.

“Age” is perhaps better described as realm. There is another realm that our physical senses cannot directly perceive. You feel it in your heart at times of inspiration or love. Jesus came into this realm to find us and show us the way. The prophets and wise elders of our age have spoken to us, have taught us Wisdom and given us instruction so that we may be enlightened, but Jesus, living and reigning in the eternal realm came to us to bring us home.

Baby Proofing

The toddler quickly finds trouble at grandma’s house. So, Grandma lovingly tries to remove the dangers.

Eventually, with loving guidance from parents and mentors we learn the difference – avoid things that cause pain.

Toddlers learn to avoid sharp edges and navigate the least painful path.

As adults, it’s harder to distinguish the difference between the path that leads to joy or misery. Ironically, often the choice of immediate pleasure is the wrong way.

We must learn the way of Wisdom. This is beyond parenting and mentorship.

Wisdom comes from within

Beyond health and beauty I loved her, And I chose to have her rather than the light, because her radiance never ceases.

Yet all good things together came to me with her,and countless riches at her hands;

I rejoiced in them all, because Wisdom is their leader, though I had not known that she is their mother.

Wisdom 7:10-12

We make mistakes. Even the most pious Saints and the greatest Kings, like Solomon, make mistakes. Through humility and seeking Wisdom-mistakes can lead you to the path of Joy.

Love Wisdom and the right path will be set before you.
